Clean your tong.
When your tong gets a little dirty, wash his head with warm water and dishwashing liquid. To finish, polish with a scrub sponge and cream detergent.
Donkey tongs were perfect to use on my live fire grill from Primal Grills USA. They definitely came in handy over the heat from our charcoal.

We all had a good laugh at the package and then picked up everything in the garage. We even did a little high reach weed whacking because the tongs didn't struggle much to hold a weed eater. Very amusing and well built. We ran out of two hand strength before the tongs started to bend. Exactly what I was hoping for to tend the fire in the hog sized pit we just built for Thanksgiving.
Mistakenly gave these tongs a 1 star review but meant to give them a 5 star review. These are well made, strong spring, perfectly aligned, nice wooden handles and have a beer bottle opener! Purchased to cook over a very large campfire pit and they exceeded expectations!!
I had to cook a bunch of steaks for an event and the size of the grilling service was quite large. The year before my forearm was so hot and burning during the process. So this year I got the Donkey Tongs. Which worked great, except the ends are so rounded, it was hard to pick up the steaks. Where when I switched to a regular long tong, I could slip them under 2 steaks at a time and flip them. So flattening those out some would me my recommendation.

You purchased the Donkey Long Tong 32' which is designed to handle your fire (wood/coals) hence the design for the head. The Donkey Tongs 27' have been designed to handle your meat/cooking over fire. They are slightly shorter as you don't have to be as far as the 32' when cooking. Let us know when you got the Donkey Tongs 27' to cook with and what your thoughts are. Have a great day!

Great set of tongs. Useful on BBQ pit smoking. Only things I’d fix is the reliability of the locking mechanism. It’s too easy to lock/unlock and it decides it for itself based on gravity (it falls locked/unlocked). Would like it to stay locked/unlocked until I decided otherwise. Other than that a must have and not gimmicky at all. But definitely cool if you’re into competing as to who is the ultimate dad in your neighborhood.
Hey Zack, thank you for your honest feedback. We appreciate pitmasters like you taking the time to share your experience with our products. We have designed it so that when using the tong (in a downward position) it stays open and then when you finished flipping, the tong has a auto lock when you point it upwards. This can be tweaked to your preference by tightening the bolts on either side or slightly squeezing the back end of your tong. Let us know if you find your level of auto lock!

Absolutely life altering tool for offset fire management. Goodbye shovel. This well constructed tool allows precision placement of sticks in the fire . The extra long length keeps you out of the heat when it's time to rearrange the coal bed . Bravo !

I want to love it, I own a bbq catering company. The only issue that I am having is that when I am using them the bottle open lock falls down and they get locked shut. It gets so aggravating that I barely use them. If they stayed unlocked and I could use them without frustration; I would give them a 5/5

Warm water, dishwashing soap and a good scrub. Nothing works better than elbow grease. These are built like Donkeys. Durable, hardworking and reliable. In other words, quite low maintenance. Dry it properly afterwards and it’ll stay looking like new for years.
Unfortunately, our Donkeys are not dishwasher safe, mainly because they won’t fit.
